What is recycling?
Recycling is the processing of used materials
into new products to save resources and energy,
and the collection, storage and transportation
of those materials from the initial user.
The daily massive
use of materials not only depletes Earth of its
natural resources but it also destroys the
environment in the process. It is
estimated that Kankakee County is currently
recycling only 20% of the materials that are
disposed of from there household. The
remaining 80% of these recycled materials are
going directly to a landfill. By
recycling, we can reduce the massive consumption
of natural resources, save our environment and
help a fellow soldier who has sacrificed a
portion of there life for our freedom.
What do I need to do?
All you need to do is to start recycling all
your cans, siding copper, cast iron, steel,
brass, old machinery, cardboard, paper, plastic,
glass, electronics, scrap metal, stainless steel
and even your old car or light truck. When
you are ready to recycle your materials you can
bring these recycled materials to
Belsons Scrap &
Steel in Bradley Illinois or River
Valley Recycling, LLC in Kankakee Illinois.
Identify that you are recycling for Task Force
Hammer and the proceeds of your recycling
efforts will be placed in a Task Force Hammer
Account.
Will this cost me anything?
There is no cost for this process other than the
time and efforts from you to recycle your
household goods and the minimal costs associated
with you driving your recycled materials to the
recycling partners.
Where do these proceeds go?
Since the veterans have dedicated a portion of
there lives for our freedom these proceeds will
go to veterans in Kankakee County who are now in
need of our assistance. These proceeds
would cover materials and or labor to repair our
Veterans home.
