Greetings to
all;
What a great
weekend for our Task
Force Hammer!!!
"Rebuilding
Together", for the second time in
as many weekends, advanced to the aide of our
Seniors and Veterans across Kankakee County. 13
homes were repaired by Kankakeeans of every
stripe and talent. Due to the extent of some of
the repairs required work will continue on some
homes for several days. But the job is getting
done.
Further
"Rebuilding Together" received word that at
least one local municipality and one major
industrial neighbor are examining how they can
best participate as part of Task Force Hammer.
That's the spirit! Stay tuned for big news from
this front in the near future. Many thanks to
our Chamber members and our elected leadership
for making our Task Force a priority and
fighting this recession with us.
1st Saturday
Operations saw the Veteran Service Organizations
in the form of
American Legion Posts; Kankakee
Post #85 and Manteno Post #755, alongside River
Valley Recycling manning Community Recycling
Points at the Kankakee VFW and the
Career Center
in
Bourbonnais.
Many patriotic Kankakeeans stopped by and
donated 1,410 pounds of recyclables to Operation
1st Saturday. Well Done, and many thanks!
Task
Force sights should now zero-in on the many tons
of recyclables that can be had from; the end of
the school year this month and the first weeks
of June, industrial neighbor and institutional
membership growth, continuing individual drop
offs at either Belson Steel or River Valley
Recycling, and finally developing plans and
events to enlist the young people of Kankakee
County to stay busy all summer long with
recyclable collection events and subsequent
donations to the cause. Its a great activity for
our, Churches, Scout Troops and all our local
teams. Call me when you have your plans put
together and we'll get you the support necessary
to make it happen.
Many thanks;
Jim
Commander
Task Force Hammer, and
